PFPA SkillBridge
 

The PFPA SkillBridge Program seeks to provide transitioning Service members with valuable civilian work experience, equipping them with the knowledge and on the job training necessary for successful post-military careers, while simultaneously enhancing our Agency’s operational effectiveness through the infusion of diverse perspectives, experiences, and talents inherent in military service.

SkillBridge Eligibility

To participate in the PFPA SkillBridge Program, Service members must meet the following requirements:

  • Within a minimum of 9-months from your separation date *
  • Hold a minimum of a secret clearance
  • Available to participate, in-person, at the Pentagon
  • Approved by their command for participation in the program

* The SkillBridge Opportunity timeline cannot extend past your separation date.

Include your name, the PFPA SkillBridge opportunity you are interested in, and your estimated date of separation.

Please be prepared to provide the following information:

  • Current Resume (federal format recommended)
  • Statement of Service with all campaign medals listed or DD214
  • SkillBridge training program eligibility dates
  • Verification that Transition Readiness Seminar / Transition Assistance Program Requirement (TRS/TAPS) has been completed
  • Official Command Approval for SkillBridge participation (if accepted).

Placement Process

  • The PFPA SkillBridge program managers will vet all applications.
  • Applicants will be interviewed as part of the selection process.

PFPA is not obligated to hire any individual who participates in the SkillBridge program. The SkillBridge program is training program that allows eligible Service members to participate in career training at PFPA during the last 180 days of their military service. PFPA may consider an individual's participation in the SkillBridge program as a positive factor during the hiring process, but it is not a guarantee of employment.

Current Opportunities

Telecommunications Equipment Operator: GS-0390-7/8/9
Under general supervision, Public Safety Dispatchers perform operational duties required in dispatching law enforcement, fire, and medical personnel and equipment. Public Safety Dispatchers answer 9-1-1, emergency, and non-emergency calls; interview callers to determine nature and priority of each call; and transmit messages via radio, data terminals, and phone. The Pentagon Operations Center operates on a 7-day, 24-hour basis and Public Safety Dispatchers are required to work a variety of schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays.
